it's tricky sometimes, to find the hours to do everything. a busy life is a good thing. i love all the things i do, but there are days - now and then - that the idea of boredom, really appeals. lol.
i've been scrapping a lot. have surprised even myself in terms of volume & i feel really good about the projects i've pumped out. i'm ahead of my deadlines and i'm bracing myself for the busy-ness of the wedding season. today, i think i even got a little 'bored'. and guess what? I quite liked it.
I've shared a couple of aussie scrap source layouts below, including my all time favourite mini-book. i don't do a lot of minibooks - they've always seemed like so much work, but this one was too easy. i had some photos of the girls that i love and a bunch of my favourite ass products to work with and it came together so easily.

speaking of photos i love...these few photos make me smile. bookweek celebrations required some creative costume construction for Bella and Molly really didn't want to miss out. the kids at school all looked amazing. honestly, the mums & dad's at st martins are enormously talented in the costume-department. my favourite was a hand-sewn, leather indianna jones outfit on one of the younger boys. incredible.
Bella's costume was pretty easy. we used a set of disposable overalls (way too big, but didn't matter), taped nasa printouts all over the place and covered her boots and bike helmet in foil. they are the cutest little astronauts i've ever seen. although, i am a little biased. lol.
and as promised, my fave mini-book...

Had some fun with my two girls last week. Had been wanting to do some canvases with them and took advantage of a student-free day to get it done. Two of the canvases went to my sister and I kept two to hang on our walls. I only bought 3 colours of paint (silver, teal blue and magenta) and plenty of glitter, beads and ribbons. They loved it and I knew that everything would work together and look great. Their lovely art smocks are simply garbage bags with handles over their shoulders. Cheap and easy.

The family and I have enjoyed a fabulous break. We spent a great 10 days in our state's capital which turned on the weather superbly. It was a much needed break for all of us I think.
it's been forever. Seriously. I've been meaning to get back here and update, but life has been fun & busy - sitting at a computer sometimes doesn't seem quite as tempting as hanging out with the kids or catching up on housework. Actually, scratch that last bit! lol.

I ordered myself one of these (canon g9). I agonised over which p&s to buy. seriously agonised. to the point that my dh virtually commanded me to order the flippin thing. so i did! lol. i know i have a completely fabulous dslr, but it just doesn't fit in my handbag. i could buy a bigger handbag perhaps, but it's still not the same. and although i'm a nikon girl, couldn't go past the fact that this little baby has full manual settings. shoots in RAW and a massive 12 point something megapixels. its as good as a dslr but compact. i expect to get a bit of noise in low-light, but that's a fair trade-off in that i can take photos anywhere. anytime. love that.
i've also had my eye on these new releases from nikon. this is quite a long video. you may just want to watch the first few minutes on the d300. pay attention to the 6 frames per second demo. totally cool. i've given myself a year to give my d80 a run for it's money. then it will retire to a life of luxury (a backup). the d300 will likely be my next purchase. unless i come into some serious money. then of course, the d3 will be my new baby! lol.
and. as much as i hate to admit it. school holidays are nearly over. i'm back at school next week for teacher stuff. and the kids follow shortly after that.
in all honesty...i LOVE school holidays. for the sole reason that hanging out with my girls is so much fun. they are sweet sweet kids with sweet sweet hearts. they are presently in my scrap room. i'm under strict orders not to enter. they are making me something. awwwww.
molly was booked into to daycare today, but i couldn't do it. she's truanting. already. just holding onto the moments with both my girls with me for as long as i can.
and just so you know. we have moments of chaos. squabbles. where i'm not so sure about having them both home. just like every other mum. but i can see beyond that now. not so much when they were younger. but now. i realise that time really is precious. that tiny little things can be so insanely valuable.
and on that note. here's a pic of my little molly. this is what you do when you're skipping daycare. lol.
I am very excited about this. Or if you want to go straight to the good bit...go here.
